PHOTOGRAPHY & FILM WORKSHOPS

Lighting with Off Camera Flash

I remember two turning points in my photographic career, the first time was when I actually picked my first DSLR camera, and the second turning point was when I learnt how to use flash, it was simply a breakthrough for me.

Learning flash gave me 3 things; ability to control when and how I want light, and freed me up from being a slave to available good (or bad) light, the second thing was the ability to free my flash from being on my camera all the time, and finally, it also gave me creative freedom.

This workshop is designed for those who want to master light, mainly artificial strobe light, how it works, and how to make it work for you, in order to create breathtaking photos every time.

The skills you will learn are countless; from understanding how to use flash in various scenarios (e.g. head shots, portraits, beauty shots, indoor/outdoor), you will also learn the different techniques used to trigger a flash when it's not directly connected the camera.

Of course, no workshop is complete without tinkering with interesting gear; therefore you will also interact and experiment with the different flash accessories and modifiers like umbrellas, softboxes, grids, snoots, gels, reflectors, and the effect and difference of each. We will also cover essential and important concepts such as light temperature, exposure, and how to balance flash with ambient light.

Once you understand flash, you can use it to light up your portraits, family shots, commercial shoots, food, interiors, ...etc . You are no longer enslaved to available room or sun light, you will be the master of your own light.

This workshop is 25% theory and 75% hands-on practical shooting, learning by doing. By the end of the day you will be exhausted, but you will have amassed great knowledge, experience, and beautiful photos you can add to your portfolio.

We will have one to two professional models available for you to practice your shooting skills.

The next workshop date is Dec. 7th, 2013 , which is perfect timing to hone your flash skills to create some stunning holiday season family portraits and yummy food shots.
